Meet Dr. Tyan

Dr. Tyan earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Biological Sciences and Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Following dental school, Dr. Tyan completed a General Practice Residency at Virtua West Jersey Hospital, where he received his certificate in 2002. He then pursued advanced specialty training in orthodontics and earned his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate from St. Barnabas Hospital, affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University, in 2005.

Dr. Tyan’s background in mechanical engineering provides him with a deeper understanding of the physical principles underlying orthodontic treatment. This expertise allows him to design more precise and efficient treatment plans for his patients. Dr. Tyan is a certified provider of Invisalign and other clear aligners, as well as the Lightforce customized ceramic braces system.

In September 2007, Dr. Tyan opened his orthodontic practice in Plainsboro to serve residents of central New Jersey. His office is equipped with the latest dental technology, including digital X-ray imaging, digital scanner, and customized ceramic braces system to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Dr. Tyan is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Orthodontists, and the New Jersey Society of Orthodontists.

Practice Philosophy

Dr. Tyan is committed to providing high-quality orthodontic care by giving every patient the time and attention they deserve at each visit. Unlike high-volume practices that may see 45 or more patients per day, our office intentionally remains small and limits scheduling to 25–30 patients daily. This allows Dr. Tyan to stay personally involved in each patient’s care and ensures a thoughtful, individualized treatment experience for you or your child.
