Early Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. While most treatment begins after permanent teeth have erupted, some children benefit from early care. An early evaluation allows Dr. Tyan to identify potential issues sooner and guide growth and development, often preventing more serious problems later on.

Early treatment may help reduce the risk of injury to protruding front teeth, abnormal tooth wear, jaw imbalance, and bite problems such as crossbites, underbites, overbites, or severe crowding.

During your child’s complimentary consultation, Dr. Tyan will carefully evaluate facial balance, bite alignment, and any orthodontic concerns.

After the exam, Dr. Tyan will discuss whether orthodontic treatment is needed and the ideal time to begin. If treatment isn’t necessary right away, he will continue to monitor your child’s growth and development and recommend care at the right time. If early treatment is beneficial, he will explain the recommended approach, expected timeline, and how it will help achieve a healthy, confident smile.
